ABOUT ASHLEIGH

I’m a self-taught watercolor and mixed media artist based in Hilliard, Ohio. I’ve been experimenting with art since I could color inside the lines, and began pursuing art professionally in 2022. My monochromatic work is inspired by organic textures and lines, particularly tree bark, as well as a variety of landscapes and tiny worlds that make me linger and look closer.

Growing up in the woods of eastern Maine I spent a lot of time in the trees—literally. As I got older, those wooded spaces and the rocky coast nearby became retreats for contemplating my place in the universe. After relocating to central Ohio during undergrad in 2010, I struggled to find comparable local places to live out my existential crises. Art became my way of staying connected to the untamed spaces that shaped me, and continues to encourage me to explore and appreciate the wild corners of my new home.
